Fitting Guide For Luvanto LVT

(with adhesive)

Before installation:

  • Check sub-floor is clean, dry, and dust – free.
  • Repair any imperfections such as cracks or lumps.
  • Check relative humidity of the sub-floor is below 70%.
  • Keep room temperature constant for 24 hours before fitting.
  • Leave Luvanto flooring in room for this period to acclimatise.
  • Switch on any underfloor heating for 7 – 14 days before installation and then switch off at least 3 hours before laying Luvanto flooring.
  • Check backs of vinyl planks/tiles are dust – free. If not, wipe off with damp cloth and allow to dry.

During Installation:

  • Use a Notched Trowel to spread adhesive evenly over sub-floor.
  • Hold the trowel at an angle of 60° to spread adhesive .
  • Wait until adhesive has started to dry and feels tacky (about 30 minutes at normal room temperature).
  • You will have about 2 hours to lay the floor before the adhesive sets hard.
  • Lay planks/tiles directly onto adhesive.
  • The edges of each plank/tile should butt up neatly to each other.
  • To cut a piece of Luvanto, use a sharp knife to score top surface. The piece will then snap along the score line.
  • Wear protective gloves when scoring to avoid cutting hands.
  • Alternatively use Vinyl Tile Cutter.
  • Ideally roll floor with a Floor Roller after laying – if not press down evenly across the new floor.
  • Remove excess adhesive from finished floor surface immediately.

After Installation

  • Don’t switch any underfloor heating on for at least 48 hours.
  • Don’t put any furniture or heavy items on the floor for at least 24 hours.
  • Avoid dragging heavy or sharp items across the floor, as this can scratch the surface.
  • If castor wheeled furniture will be used on floor, use floor protection to avoid damage to plank edges.
  • Avoid heavy point loading on finished floor – this could damage planks and underlay.

Fitting Guide For Luvanto LVT

(Instalay self- adhesive underlay)

Before installation:

  • Check sub-floor is clean, dry, and dust – free.
  • Repair any imperfections such as large cracks or lumps.
  • If the sub-floor is damp or concrete, lay 1200 gauge polythene DPM sheeting first.
  • Keep room temperature constant for 24 hours before fitting.
  • Leave Luvanto flooring and Livello underlay in room for this period to acclimatise.
  • Switch off any underfloor heating at least 48 hours before laying floor.
  • Installation should be at a round 21°C room temperature.
  • Check backs of vinyl planks/tiles are dust – free. If not, wipe off with damp cloth and allow to dry.

During Installation

  • Unroll, backing film on top, at 90° to direction you’ll lay floor covering, until whole floor is covered with underlay.
  • Butt up each length flush to adjoining one and fit neatly around room edge.
  • Choose a wall to start laying the floor and, with the backing film in place, set out first row completely straight (don’t assume wall is straight), leaving minimum 3mm expansion gap.
  • Set out next three rows (with backing film still in place) to desired pattern.
  • Carefully cut backing film along last row of planks set out, and make parallel second cut with space between for two rows of planks.
  • Peel back film to expose adhesive.
  • With loose pieces still in place, lay next row onto exposed adhesive making sure they’re tightly butted together.
  • Don’t press down pieces too hard yet, in case you need to re-position any.
  • Ensure all pieces butt up neatly to each other, with no gaps in between.
  • Once in correct position, press each piece down firmly to lock in place.
  • Lift first four rows of loose planks, noting order so they can be re – laid in same position.
  • Peel backing film from underneath these rows to expose adhesive, then relay planks working back towards starting wall.
  • When all are in correct position, press firmly down to lock in place.
  • With 5 to 6 rows now in place from starter wall to room centre, continue installing planks row by row, cutting the pieces where needed.
  • For each row, cut away enough backing film to expose just enough adhesive.
  • Lay planks lightly to check for position, and when correct press firmly to lock in place.

After installation

  • Don’t switch underfloor heating on for at least 48 hours, and set it below full temperature for at least 7 days after switching on.
  • If castor wheeled furniture will be used on floor, use floor protection to avoid damage to plank edges.
  • Avoid heavy point loading on finished floor — this could damage planks and underlay.
  • With underfloor heating, only use Livello underlay at temperatures lower than 27°C.
  • Not recommended for areas subject to fluctuation in temperature or direct sunlight (eg. conservatories)
